  • Tuition Assistance Qualifications

We believe all families who desire a Catholic education for their child should have that opportunity. Our need-based Tuition Assistance is available for those who qualify based upon income table parameters and then complete an application process.

For families interested in tuition assistance, below is an income table to determine the threshold for qualification.

How to Use the Table: Find the intersection of tax return household size and number of students attending Light of Christ. If your Adjusted Gross Income for the calendar year is BELOW that amount, then you are able to apply for Tuition Assistance.

Number of Students Attending Light of Christ

Please note: Life-altering events (such as a death in the family, serious illness, on-going medical bills, loss of job, significantly reduced work hours/pay, etc.) qualify a family for temporary/phased tuition assistance.

We use FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment to determine the financial needs of families. This system takes into account our local cost of living, medical costs, general household expenses and other factors in determining the need for a family. Every part of this process is safe, secure and confidential.

After confirming that your family qualifies based upon the income table parameters listed above:
    1. CLICK HERE to fill out the Tuition Assistance Application through FACTS Grant & Aid. (This is a separate log-in from your family FACTS account.) In this application, you will need to upload your tax returns, W-2 and other required documents.

    2. FACTS verifies the application information. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    3. Once the information has been verified, FACTS notifies the Tuition Assistance Review Committee. This Committee then reviews every application and determines, based on need, if tuition assistance will be awarded.

    Important Dates:

    • February 15: Tuition assistance applications available through the FACTS website
    • May 4: Tuition assistance application deadline
    • Any applications submitted after the deadline may not receive as much assistance as a similar family who applied within the deadline.
    • Families will be informed of the decision on their application in June.
    • New families enrolling throughout the summer or families that experience a significant financial event will still be eligible for tuition assistance after the May 4 deadline.

    Important Details:

    • Financial assistance is not available to families who have ONLY Pre-K students.
    • When applying for Tuition Assistance, you must ALSO set up a payment plan in FACTS.
    • Applicants will apply online for a fee of $40 (only one fee per family).
    • Tuition Assistance will be first distributed to families who have followed the deadlines of the program. Any applications or verification documents submitted after the deadline will be considered for secondary rounds of tuition assistance but may not receive as much tuition assistance as a similar family who applied within the deadline.
  • If you do not qualify for Tuition Assistance BASED ON THE TABLE but still feel unable to afford tuition:

Please know that you do not need to withdraw your students, there are other options available to help your family afford tuition.

Further Explanation of Situation (possible exceptions) – if your family anticipates that your total adjusted gross income for the upcoming year will decrease OR that there are exceptions that affect your reported income or don’t take into account significant expenses, then you may email [email protected] to request the Tuition Assistance: Income Qualifications Table EXCEPTION Form. Please review this form, fill it out accurately, and provide all necessary evidence to substantiate any checked exceptions. Please email (or drop off) this completed Exception Form, along with any evidence/documentation, by the May 4th tuition assistance application deadline.
